E-VAN Ministries Board Statement

We, the members of the E-VAN Ministries board, have found the accusations and charges leveled at Timothy Meyer in relation to his return to the Walmart service desk on August 14, 2021 in complete opposition to our observations of his character over decades of knowing and serving with him.  Now, having seen Chattanooga policy body camera footage from the incident, the following things are clear to us:

  •    The purpose of Timothy’s return to the service desk was to report to store management phone harassment that had taken place since a visit to the store earlier that day.

  •    There is no evidence to support the charges or the statements reported in the news regarding Timothy stalking an employee or trying to bite a police officer.

  •    While in custody at the store, Timothy was the victim of unprovoked violent treatment, including multiple tazings.

Furthermore, now two years after the incident, other video of the incident, which should have long since been available, has not been released.  We are saddened and outraged at the unfairness of Timothy’s treatment and are praying for swift justice with respect to this incident.

Finally, while we are drawing attention to the rogue actions of a few police officers, we want to express our deep appreciation and support for the many courageous civil servants who serve with integrity and risk their lives for the preservation of peace and justice.

Sincerely,

The Board Members of E-VAN Ministries
